This site is humbly curated to share my adventures in and around the Pacific Northwest and beyond. My name is Jason and my Home Port is Gig Harbor, WA.
I have been boating since I was a young child with many fond memories of time with the family in the San Juan Islands camping out if a 16' runabout. Through the years growing up, we had a variety of power boats that we spent many nights on in the Puget Sound.
I was active for over 10 years with Pierce County Explorer Search and Rescue where I discovered a passion for spending time in the outdoors and a deep respect for nature.
I served in the USCG for 4 years as a Boatswains Mate, Heavy Weather Motor Lifeboat Coxswain on the 47' Motor Lifeboat while being stationed in Westport, WA, and Bodega Bay, CA.
After I completed my 4 year tour with the USCG, I returned to the Pacific Northwest and got trained up to be a Paramedic and have been working as a Firefighter/Paramedic since 2007.
In 2009 I returned to thesea as a Sea Kayaker and found a whole new way to explore my passion of the great outdoors. I have paddled all over the Puget Sound from Olympia to the San Islands. However, my favorite place to go paddling is the nearshore coastal zone. I have paddled all of the upper washington coastline many times over and most of the west coast of Vancouver Island.
I recently purchased a sailboat reigniting an interest I had when working at a summer camp in my later teen years at a summer camp as a sailing instructor.
